Just a quick post before resuming professional duties…

This is definitely a weekend to get up and out of the house. Pimlico hosts the Preakness; yard sales are cropping up like dandelions; outdoor concerts abound; the weather’s supposed to be gorgeous. And wineries are throwing open their doors, too: according to Maryland Wine’s events page, Legends Vineyards, Port of Leonardtown Winery, and Running Hare Vineyard are all holding events this weekend.

And who could forget Wine in the Woods? This year’s event promises more wineries, new workshops, and an improved layout. I’ve heard the layout is larger this year, but I’ve also heard the new layout will keep wineries closer together, with no winery in its own tent. While it means getting even closer with several thousands of your best friends, it also means less walking, and more space for that evening’s concert, which your festival ticket gives you admission to.

Either way, as always, bring water and snacks; sunscreen and a hat; and something to sit down on when you’re enjoying your pit beef and rose. I highly recommend one of those bottle bags you can find nowadays at most wineries and festivals. To make your time even more enjoyable, a couple Howard County bloggers recommend Howard Transit, which means you don’t have to deal with the HoCoMoPo directing parking. I’m sold.

Also, come find us! I’ll be pouring at Friday’s Creek from 3-6 on Saturday, and Matt will be around the grounds as well. We’ll be watching and posting on the #WITW12 twitter feed, if you’ve got questions.

What winery are you looking forward to seeing?
